Author & Columnist

  • In 1994, Kimberley, then a 22-year-old college student, wrote an explosive article that rocked Austin’s historic 40 acres, entitledUT Fosters a Hostile Environment for the African-American student in the University of Texas Daily Texan.  That changed policy in 24 hours and led to the building of the "Malcolm X Lounge" in Jester West Dormitory that is still on campus today.

She is the lead founder and laborer of the historic Malcolm X Student Lounge.

  • It was this movement that gave fire and power to encourage student leaders to request the Martin Luther King and Barbara Jordan statues now on campus. She returns annually to her Alma mater to discuss business matters, African-American history and traditions at UT-Austin.
  • In 2008 she released  “Confessions of a Preacher’s Wife” under the imprint of Carl Weber’s Urban House Books which landed at #4 on Black Expressions Best Seller List. Writing is her true freedom.  Kimberley writes under the literary pen name of Mikasenoja (which is Kim Jones spelled backwards with an "a").
